A great vibe, with facilities close by
Fidel, Joel and their cat, Cleopatra, have just moved into their brand-new Forge home at Waverley Green. It marks a milestone for the couple – Fidel’s first time owning a home, and Joel’s next step on the ladder after selling his flat in the area.
Here, they share why they love the local area, and how they’re bringing a touch of mid-century style to their new home.
“We were sold on Waverley from the very start”, says 30-year-old Joel, who settled on the Goldfinch – one of two three-bedroom property types available at Forge’s new development.
The homes sit adjacent to the bustling new high street at Olive Lane – filled with places to eat, drink and browse. “There’s lots of rapid development and the progress we’ve seen really pushed us to make the move,” explains Fidel, 32. “I’d lived in Kelham Island before, so I needed a similar vibe and facilities – and we’ve got that here.”
“We were looking to rent,” adds Joel. “But we realised that this was the place to put down roots.”
We were sold on Waverley from the start.
Their new home also gives them more space. Joel adds: “We thought we could do with more room, and a house would give us more living space than a flat. We both spend some of the week working from home and now have the luxury of a third bedroom as our office area, with separate entertaining space in our kitchen-diner, and the lounge – or snug as we call it – for us to settle as a family, with Cleopatra of course!”
Fidel is particularly looking forward to putting his own creative stamp on the property. “I’m creative and really into interior design, so I’m looking forward to shopping around and bringing a mid-century, retro vibe to the house. It may be boxes and unpacking for now, but we’ll very quickly have our own stamp on the place.”
We realised this was the place to put down roots.
The pair also appreciated the smooth buying process and the service they received. Joel adds: “People at Forge have been really friendly. Their vision is good and it feels different compared to other developers. We did view other neighbouring schemes, but they didn’t have as practical a layout as Forge did – this is perfect for us.”
