The Hedgerows is perfectly located for us. We love spending time in Chesterfield, exploring its bars and restaurants. We really can’t recommend this development – and Forge – enough.

There’s real attention to detail which I appreciate, for example the bins have their own wooden unit around them, hiding them from view. It’s things like that which really make a difference – you can tell everything has been considered from the point of view of the people living in the house.
We’ve just celebrated our first year of living here and we’re incredibly settled. The area is great – perfect to bring up Remi with schools and everything we need close by. We’re also surrounded by beautiful walks and Tesco is a ten-minute drive away. The neighbours are lovely – our next-door neighbour is a window cleaner which is very handy!
This week we’ll celebrate Remi’s first birthday and we can’t wait to do that here in our forever home, where we can continue to make lots of happy memories.
I knew Isobel was invested as soon as Alicia got us to picture a Christmas tree in the bay window (and we can confirm it looked as great as we imagined!). We moved in on the 7th of November after our first visit to the show home in August, and the tree was ordered and in place shortly after!
There’s very little for us to do except put our personal stamp on it. We’ve started to choose pictures and get them on the walls to make it really feel like ours, and the blinds are being fitted this week.
At first I wasn’t sure if the kitchen was what we would have chosen – and also, we were used to gas, but the transition to electric has been seamless and our initial thoughts about the kitchen have completely changed now we live here. It’s perfect for the space, the floors are incredible quality and we’re really appreciating the way it’s been designed so carefully. That goes throughout the whole home – everything is of such good quality, we’re really happy being here.
We’ve never bought a home before, so we have no experience to compare ours to, but all I can say is that the Forge team has been incredibly supportive from start to finish. They have a real understanding of the whole process and were brilliant in helping us get it over the line with mortgages and everything else that comes with buying your first home.
They worked with us and were always really helpful and responsive. We dealt with Toby and Matt – and because the scheme is still being completed, we got to see a bit of the contractors and builders as well! We’re also really grateful to our broker Nicky, who was fantastic and helped us get everything over the line so quickly and supported our conversations with Forge.
Andy, Forge’s MD, popped in last week to see how we were getting on, which was really nice, and we’ve now got neighbours either side of us which is lovely. We already love it here and that’s before everyone has moved in. We’re really looking forward to immersing ourselves in the community; Bolsover is charming and we’ve already visited the castle and are planning to go to the lantern parade. It’s a great place and has everything we could possibly need. I commute to Leeds a lot and I can get on the M1 in ten minutes, which is very convenient.
We’re feeling really settled, and now the blinds have been fitted, we’ve been able to move the cats in – we wanted to get everything sorted first as they are old so want them to settle quickly. I’m sure they’ll love their new home as much as we do.
Not only that – the build quality is exceptional – everything is fantastic and the attention to detail is clear. I love the detail on the exterior of my home, which has some of the bricks turned by 90 degrees and raised. I love how all the homes are different, they all have their own individuality, and the layout has been intelligently considered – you can tell that it’s all been well planned and thought through.
I absolutely love living here – I wake up and lie in bed looking out of the huge window which overlooks the hills and it’s idyllic. The views are exceptional – even my dog Maggy nudges the curtains open – she’s got quite accustomed to the beautiful landscape too! I love that my fixtures and fittings are all black – it makes such a difference – it’s incredibly stylish and has given me a new lease of life for interiors.
Working from home used to stress me out, but now I favour it – I’ve made the third bedroom into an office but popped a sofa bed in there for flexibility too – it’s perfect. I’ve barely been here a month but travelling back to Hertfordshire last week I realised that – despite living there all my life – it didn’t feel like home. I came back here and felt like I was home – I felt like that from the first day of being here.

The neighbours are wonderful. I’ve had offers from people to watch Maggy for me if I’m out, and someone recommending a blind company. It’s just got a lovely feel that’s quite unique and I think that’s partly because we’re all new – we’re all in the same boat, settling in and making new friends. it’s a great atmosphere.
The village is lovely – in fact, in the excitement to get here I forgot Maggie’s dog lead and my mum, who was visiting, had forgotten her device which helps her put on her socks! I bought both from the village – if that’s not convenient, I don’t know what is!
I could not be happier with my Forge home, and can’t praise them enough for their exceptional customer service – I have felt valued every step of the way. They are authentic, caring people and it made the entire experience a happy one. I can’t wait to live here for many years to come.
